For patients that suffer from chronic pain, especially in the arms, legs, lower back and neck, Dr. Constant-Peter might prescribe trigger point injections (TPI). Specifically, if pain occurs from knots of muscles that do not relax, trigger points within the muscle could be utilized to alleviate the pain. When muscles contain trigger points, the pain can cascade to the surrounding areas. Luckily, these same trigger points can be injected. This procedure typically includes the insertion of a small needle into the trigger point and injection of a local anesthetic to make the area inactive, thus alleviating the pain. Several sites might be injected for sustained relief from the following conditions:

  • Chronic Muscle Pain
  •  Fibromyalgia
  • Tension Headaches
  • Myofascial Pain Syndrome

If you suffer from chronic pain or a headache disorder and would like to discuss the benefits of trigger point injections, please call Family & Women’s Health in Avalon Park, 407.306.0982.
